A 42 MW and a 20 MW PV power plants began commercial operations (COD) on November 2nd, providing a source of reliable and clean energy.
Tokyo, Japan, November 19, 2020 – A 42 MW and a 20 MW PV power plants began commercial operations (COD) on November 2nd, providing a source of reliable and clean energy. The two ground-mounted plants were built under the Japanese feed-in-tariff (FiT) scheme and are part of a portfolio of nine projects totaling 280 MW being developed by Enfinity Global, affiliate of EverStream Capital Management.
After Japan’s prime minister Yoshihide Suga announced in October plans to cut all greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050, Hiroshi Kajiyama, Japan’s economy minister, announced that by 2030 renewable energy will be “major power source” for the country. Japan currently aims to meet 22% to 24% of Japan’s electricity needs with renewables by fiscal 2030, compared to 17% in fiscal 2018. Most of the growth is expected to come from wind and solar power.

Together, these two solar power plants will produce more than 70,000 MWh of energy every year (equivalent to the energy consumption of 17,000 homes), and will mean a saving to the atmosphere of 6,800 Tons of CO2, thus contributing to protect the natural balance of the region and the health of its inhabitants.
An investment of over $200 Million was required for the development and construction of these plants, which in turn contributed to the local economy. At their peak, construction of the plants employed approximately 240 people.
